Be The Change Symposium Facilitator Training, March 2010

The seventh UK training for facilitators of the Be The Change one-day Symposium will take place from March 13-16, 2010. Our venue will once again be the beautiful EarthSpirit retreat centre, near Glastonbury in Somerset (TA11 6PE - nearest station Castle Cary, nearest airport Bristol).

The purpose of the training is to support and empower you in expressing your commitment to the purpose of the Symposium: “To bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on the planet”, in your diverse possible contributions to this work.

Recognising the extraordinary range of skills, talents, passions and experience that shows up at every training, our three days together will concentrate primarily on what is truly unique - our relationship with the material, connection with its origins, and how we work together - so that we can work with the material and message, adapt it and ‘generate’ it with confidence and integrity. The primary focus is not on ‘nuts and bolts’ event organisation or presentation skills - you may already have them, intend to put your energy into other aspects of the work, or have the opportunity to develop them later through access to our new CPD (continuing professional development) programme. Attending a training also introduces you to our Symposium Facilitator Community - over 2000-strong world-wide, with over 200 in the UK - organised regionally to give you local support, in presenting Symposia and in ‘Being The Change’.

The tuition fee for the three day course will be £310. This represents the real cost of presenting the training. For those who truly cannot afford the full amount but have a passion to pursue the work, we have budgeted for a small number of reduced price places, at £260 for those who are low-waged and £190 for those who are unwaged. (Please use your judgement if applying for the reduced prices, as these places are limited.)

Food and accommodation for the three days costs £110 for shared accommodation and all meals and snacks. There are a limited number of rooms with ensuite facilities (£15 extra) - and depending on numbers, there may be some single rooms available £39 extra). Once you have booked and paid for the course and standard accommodation, we can then put you in touch with Earth Spirit, should you wish to book either of these options. The total fees shown above also include a small contribution to other overheads.

Dates, times and requirements:
The training itself will start at 7pm on Saturday evening, March 13, and will end around 5pm on Tuesday evening, March 16. All registered trainees are also warmly invited to a Symposium in Glastonbury from 11am - 5pm on the Saturday (at the concession rate of £15) - this is only a requirement for those who have not yet attended a Symposium. There will be a series of non-residential 'Practica' a month or so later, during which you will complete your training by performing a run-through of the entire Symposium in small groups. These will take place in London and other locations agreed with the trainees. Further preparatory material and logistical details will be sent to you during the weeks leading up to the training.
